NBA All-Star Weekend 2025: A New Era of Excitement and Competition
The NBA’s All-Star Weekend has wrapped up, and what a weekend it was! The festivities took place at the Chase Center in San Francisco, where the revamped All-Star Game format featured four squads battling it out in a tournament-style showdown. This new format brought a fresh twist to the traditional All-Star Game, and fans were treated to a weekend full of thrilling moments and standout performances.
Sunday’s main event saw Shaq’s OGs emerge victorious, with Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry earning MVP honors in front of his home crowd. Curry’s team first defeated Candace’s Rising Stars before taking down Chuck’s Global Stars in the final. Unfortunately, LeBron James, who was set to make a record-extending 21st All-Star Game appearance, was a late scratch due to discomfort in his left foot.
Saturday night was packed with excitement as well, featuring the skills challenge, 3-point contest, and the highly anticipated dunk contest. The Cleveland Cavaliers duo of Evan Mobley and Donovan Mitchell dominated the skills challenge, despite some controversy surrounding the disqualification of San Antonio Spurs partners Victor Wembanyama and Chris Paul. In the 3-point contest, Tyler Herro dethroned Damian Lillard, who was aiming for a three-peat. Meanwhile, the dunk contest saw Mac McClung achieve a historic three-peat, showcasing his incredible athleticism and creativity.
The weekend kicked off on Friday with the Rising Stars event, where first- and second-year NBA players, along with a G League squad, competed in a four-team tournament. The winning side earned a spot in Sunday’s main event, adding an extra layer of excitement to the weekend.
