Miami Linebacker Adarius Hayes Involved in Tragic Car Accident
In a heartbreaking turn of events, Miami Hurricanes linebacker Adarius Hayes was involved in a car crash on Saturday that resulted in the tragic deaths of two young children in his hometown of Largo, Florida. This devastating news was confirmed by a spokesperson from the Largo Police Department to ESPN on Sunday.
The public information officer for the Largo Police Department, Megan Santo, confirmed Hayes’ involvement in the accident. However, she did not disclose whether Hayes was behind the wheel of any of the vehicles involved in the collision.
The accident occurred around 1:45 p.m. ET on Saturday, when police officers responded to the scene. According to the police report, a Dodge Durango collided with a Kia Soul that was making a left turn. Fortunately, alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in this tragic incident.
Tragically, the crash claimed the lives of Jabari Elijah Solomon, aged 10, and Charlie Herbert Solomon Riveria, aged 4, as reported by the Largo Police. Several other individuals involved in the accident were hospitalized with serious injuries, adding to the gravity of the situation.
“This is an ongoing and active investigation, and no further information is available for release at this time,” Santo stated in a formal announcement.
In the wake of this tragedy, several of Hayes’ teammates from Miami have taken to social media to offer their prayers and support. Among them was linebacker Raul Aguirre, who expressed his concern and solidarity on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
Adarius Hayes, who played in 12 games for the Hurricanes as a freshman in 2024, primarily contributed on special teams. During the season, he recorded four tackles and made a notable interception, which he returned for 25 yards in Miami’s commanding 56-9 victory over Florida A&M on September 7.
